The race for the $1 million guaranteed grand prize in FLW Fantasy Fishing may be over (winners will be announced Aug. 1), but fantasy players still have one contest remaining for 2009. Powerhook, which correlates to the 2009 Forrest Wood Cup, is a stand-alone game where contestants pick the five anglers they think will finish in the top five places.
There is only one prize for Powerhook, but it’s striking. How does $3 million sound? But truth be told, Powerhook is difficult to win as each of the picks have to finish in the exact order they were selected. The good news is that a full roster is only five, whereas during the regular season players had to choose 10 anglers. If more than one contestant wins, the $3 million pot will be divvied up evenly.
Throughout the regular season, rosters were due the night before the tournament began at 11:59 p.m. Eastern time. Although the Forrest Wood Cup commences July 30, Powerhook rosters lock at 11:59 p.m. Eastern time July 22. That means there is only three days remaining to research and select a winning roster. If you had a rough 2009 fantasy season (and many of us did) Powerhook offers a clean slate and a chance at some big-time redemption.
