SPARTA, Tenn. — The Walmart Bass Fishing League is headed to Center Hill April 30 for the third of five stops in the Music City Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards of up to $9,500 and $3,000, respectively.

“It’s going to be game on,” said Walmart pro Wesley Strader of Spring City, Tenn. “They’re going to be spawning like crazy. Ninety-five percent of the fish will be spawning.”

Strader said Center Hill offers fishermen a variety of options to target including rock, lay-downs, bluffs and the option to fish bushes when the water level rises.

“There will be a lot of sight-fishing, but there’s other ways to catch them without looking at them,” Strader said. “Guys can use a Zoom Brush Hog, a shaky-head rig or a Zoom Trick Worm. There might even be some topwater fish.”

Takeoff and weigh-in will be at Ragland Bottom Recreation Area located at 1423 Ragland Bottom Road in Sparta, Tenn. Takeoff is scheduled for 6 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 2 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

Bass Fishing League competition is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for the regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
